Fees and Royalties
Traditionally, a franchisee pays an initial fee to purchase the franchise and a royalty for ongoing use of the logos, marks, marketing tools, and other franchise specific materials. BY OWNER's franchise fee compares quite favorably with other real estate franchises.

BY OWNER also has a very
competitive
royalty, a portion of which is used for ongoing advertising
for the franchisees -- we do not charge an additional fee for corporate
advertising.

Start-Up Costs
While
buying a franchise give the new business owner a huge head start, we
want to be certain that every new franchisee is prepared for the
challenges of a new business.
When you
purchase a BY
OWNER franchise, your area representative will help you
formulate a reasonable budget for start-up and marketing efforts for
the first few months. While the following list is not complete, any
new business will incur costs for at least the following items:
- Leased office space
- Signage
- Advertising
- Telephone and Fax service
- Utilities
- Copy machine and associated costs
- Computer(s) and related hardware
- Computer software
- Office supplies
- Other promotional materials
Your BY OWNER franchise fee will include some supplies so that you can open and be ready for business on your opening day. Your area representative will help in formulating your opening costs. A table outlining those costs can also be found in your Franchise Offering Circular.
Other Requirements
You will need a broker's license or a managing broker on staff. The best candidates for a BY OWNER franchise are people-oriented, have a basic business knowledge and a strong desire to be successful. You will need to be familiar with your trade area. And of course, you will need the personal and financial resources to operate your own business.
